Computer Fraud

  +44 (0)845 125 4400
Case Example

We were contacted by an accounting practice who was investigating a brewery chain. The investors of this chain were finding that their investments were not being used for the pubs that they were investing in, but other pubs outside of their interests, which was a fraudulent use of their funds.

An Anton Pillar order was obtained (this is equivalent to a civil search and seizure order) and we raided 10 pubs with the accompanying solicitors and seized all the systems found there.

On examination we found multiple sets of Sage and other accounting software that were all password protected. We cracked the passwords and delivered the evidence needed to obtain a successful outcome for the investors.

Investigation of fraud

Computer Fraud continues to be a major problem for UK businesses and certainly it forms a large part of the forensic casework that we undertake at Evidence Talks.

Experience is a key factor in investigating fraud.

All the tools in the world cannot beat an experienced investigator when it comes to finding evidence of computer fraud. At Evidence Talks our team has over 59 years experience in discovering evidence of fraud (including 42 years of digital fraud).

It is knowing where to look within systems that is key to finding the proof required to dismiss or prosecute and this only comes with years of experience.

With the continued emergence of digital devices that can be employed to steal data, we are ideally placed to develop ways to investigate these devices and advise companies how to protect themselves against such fraudsters.
